Register

How to register for access to certain abtmtr.link services.

There are two accounts that would be considered "abtmtr.link" accounts - a next.abtmtr.link OIDC account, and an @abtmtr.link email account.

Types of accounts

abtmtr.link provides two services under ""one"" account. The services have different authentication methods, but they use the same credentials.

  • next.abtmtr.link "abtmtr.link account"
abtmtr.link provides a Nextcloud server. You get 50 GB of storage for free, as well as "unlimited"* calendar storage and "unlimited"* contacts storage.
It's also the main authentication provider, so credentials from your Nextcloud account are used everywhere else. That's why it's the "abtmtr.link account".
  • mail.abtmtr.link "@abtmtr.link email"
abtmtr.link provides a freemail service. It's hosted primarily so MeowcaTheoRange has email for the services on the site, as well as a "professional" email for themselves.
You get a free "@abtmtr.link" email address, and "unlimited"* email storage.
  • *No limit theoretically, but if there's storage issues in abtmtr.link, an announcement will be made asking everyone to clear some space.

    Registering for an abtmtr.link account

To start, send an email to me@abtmtr.link like so:

    Subject: [ABTMTR.LINK ACCOUNT] Register

    I'd like [Lowercase username - a-z, 0-9, dots, hyphens, and underscores allowed]@abtmtr.link.

[Explain your reasoning here - who you are, and why you'd like an abtmtr.link account.]

    Thanks,
    [Your name]

The name after "Create" will become your username for your abtmtr.link account AND email address for your @abtmtr.link email.

The address you've sent the email from will become your recovery email, for password resets. We will not advertise to you through your email, we promise!

Your @abtmtr.link email will be reserved as soon as you start owning an account, so if you don't want an @abtmtr.link email, just don't use it. We will never send anything important directly to your @abtmtr.link email.

    Logging in to next.abtmtr.link

Once you have recieved your welcome email from no-reply@abtmtr.link, you should be set for making a new abtmtr.link account! Here's how to do it.

First, look for the welcome email in your inbox. Check your spam folder and stuff.
You can ignore the "Install Client" link - let's figure out software later. Instead, follow the "Set your password" link.

A dark page displaying the contents of a Nextcloud welcome email, sent from no-reply@abtmtr.link. This user's login is "johndoe", and there are two links below directing the user to set a password and install the Nextcloud client.

You should see a purple page with a password entry box on it. Enter a password, then click "Reset Password".

The scene described above - a dark box atop a purple image of Teo'ne Tsuite. It bears no title - only a textbox filled in with dots, and a "Reset password" button.

Once you've set your password, you should be sent to the login page.

The Nextcloud login screen. It displays the credentials "johndoe", and an obscured password.

    Enjoy your new account!

    Setting up for mail.abtmtr.link

    Obtaining an email password

First, log into your abtmtr.link account via next.abtmtr.link.

The Nextcloud login screen. It displays the credentials "johndoe@example.com", and an obscured password.

Once logged in, click your profile picture in the top-right of the header. Go to "Personal settings".

The header menu of Nextcloud, displayed atop the initial Files app. The user's name is "John R. Doe". Below the name are a list of links: "Appearance and accessibility", "Personal settings (highlighted)", "About & What's new", "Help & privacy", and "Log out".

Open the sidebar, then go to Security.

The Settings sidebar in Nextcloud. It lists "Personal info", "Security" "Notifications", etc. "Security" is the hightlighted element.

Scroll down to the bottom of the Devices & sessions section, type any app name, and click Create new app password.

The Devices and Sessions panel in Nextcloud. It lists "This session" as the only session. Below the session list is a "App name" textbox, filled in with "Mozilla Thunderbird". Next to it is a highlighted button titled "Create new app password".

You may be prompted for your account password.

The previous scene, this time with a scrim overlaid, displaying a dialog titled "Authentication required". In it is one "Password" textbox, filled in with dots, and a button to confirm.

Copy the new app password, and keep it safe.

The previous scene, with a new dialog titled "New app password" in place of the authentication dialog. It displays a login, "johndoe", and a randomly-generated password, "ARgxw-zlJNx-tR2Jj-8W9rn-9ka0M". These credentials will be used throughout the guide.

    Adding an email client

Set up your email client with the following settings:

    Authentication (for both)

    Outgoing server (SMTP)

    Incoming server

    Deleting your mail.abtmtr.link account data

You can delete your account from next.abtmtr.link, but that won't get rid of your data at mail.abtmtr.link. To get that done, follow these instructions:

Send an email to me@abtmtr.link from your @abtmtr.link address:
(If your account is already gone, send an email from any address.)

    Subject: [ABTMTR.LINK EMAIL] Deletion

    Delete [email]@abtmtr.link.

    Thanks,
    [Your name]
