About abtmtr.link
More about this "network". What's the deal with it?
Hi! I'm MeowcaTheoRange, I primarily host abtmtr.link.
abtmtr.link is a passion project that spiraled out of control into something that costs me money now. But I'm okay with that!
Initially, I had no domain and slapped a website onto it through GitHub. That was v1.
Then, as the years and versions went on, I eventually got a domain... better server hardware... and more comfort with the backend side of things...
And now, here we are! abtmtr.link v15, a culmination of all I've learned through all of the iterations.
OK! So what does it do, then?
Haha, funny. abtmtr.link isn't anything anymore, but it can be as much as it wants to be.
Basically, abtmtr.link represents itself now. Despite it's name, it's not really "abt mtr" anymore.
abtmtr.link is nothing because it points to itself, which at some point has to point to something, which is nothing.
abtmtr.link is the solution to itself, as well! Is abtmtr.link bad? Add more abtmtr.link!
Bootstrapping abtmtr.link around itself
In my quest to "bootstrap" abtmtr.link's brand, I've done a few things:
- Created a neat little mascot for it, Teo'ne Tsuite
- Created this site, abtmtr.link v15!
- Tidied up the abtmtr.link Discord server
- Consolidated everything into an Evil monorepo
abtmtr.link is more than just a silly website now, I guess. It's a suite of softwares and custom-built technologies that come together under one fucked up domain. And I'm proud of it!
I got hosting on HelioHost as well, to assist with proxying, e-mail, and other user-facing shenanigans.
E-mail hosting was an important goalpost for me, as moving from Cloudflare's e-mail hosting to something more solid is something I've been wanting to do for a long time.
The future of abtmtr.link
In the future, I'd like to imagine abtmtr.link is thriving, with multiple services that can just... help its users in their daily lives.
I'd like to imagine I get my e-mail server in order, that I create code solutions that help others, and maybe recruit people to help me with abtmtr.link and its servers.
Generally, in the future, I'd like to move to be more independent with my services. Less dependency on corporate services like Cloudflare, and more helping out organizations like HelioHost.
